Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family being oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass, followed closely by a male hoping to inseminate. With a fin spanning the dorsal area all the way around to the middle of the stomach, they resemble their name cousin.
